There are many types of Assault Offences and penalties which may apply, depending on the seriousness of the assault.
Under The Crimes Act 1958 and The Summary Offences Act 1966 offences include:
- Threatening to kill a person or inflict serious injury on a person (Sections 20 and 21 of The Crimes Act 1958)
- Intentionally or recklessly causing injury (Section 15A to 19A of The Crimes Act 1958)
- Indecent Assaults (Sections 39 to 40 of The Crimes Act 1958)
- Serious Assaults (Section 31 of The Crimes Act 1958)
- Aggravated Assaults (Section 24 of The Summary Offences Act 1966)
- Common Assault (Section 23 of The Summary Offences Act 1966)
- Common Law Assault and Unlawful Assault (Section 23 of The Summary Offences Act 1966)
- Commonwealth Assault or Threatening to Assault Another Person with the Intention to Commit an Indictable Offence (Section 31 of The Crimes Act 1958)
